Wm. Michael Owens
I was raised on a farm in south Texas till I was 10 years old. At the
age of 4 years old I was adopted by a kindly man Wm. H. Owens and raised
by him. Dad treated me as one of his own sons till this day.
Dad worked for the Government in the missile program so he traveled alot
all over the World sometimes I would go with him. Slowly, the farmboy
gained a greater understanding of how the World was.
The sixties open my eyes to many things! Like most kids of my generation
we all experimented with drugs, not knowing the path it led. I lost some
friends to drugs and drug related deaths.
My first real job was working for the Women's housing in Germany. I was the
only man in Two miles for one hundred women ages 18-45 something. I got a
real education then. A young man at seventeen is quite innocent! I worked
after school there and I wonder... Living in Europe I traveled by myself
mostly and gain as much experience of life as a young man can. I tried
everything that I thought a young man needed to know. I'll let your
imagination go from there. Some countries have particular interest France,
Italy, Austria, Belgium, etc.
I worked as a Disc Jockey for a year while going to college (69). The job
seemed to not help my academic rating at all. However, I did gain more
education.!
I met soon to me my first wife Patty in college. We came back to the States
and married. This marriage ended in divorce in 7 years. Patty travels the
World with one of her new husbands. I wish her the best...
I re-married during the disco years and I have one son, Steve and two girls,
Christina and Nikki years old. Married With Children.... I've worked jobs
that peak my interest like, junk yard mechanic, shoe salesman, electrician,
Fuller Brushman, sold real estate, Engineering Co., minister, owned a business,
Oil co., ITS, Union Pacific R/R., inspector, varies supervisors in varies jobs,
worked for civil service, worked washing dishes, dug ditches. .
I've been writing for a number of years. My first book "Living Stones" was a
combination of older writings. It was put together in a year. The interesting
thing is I got poems and correspondence from all over the World.
My second book "Looking Thru a Glass Darkly" was similar to the first. I stop
writing books and just stopped writing for about 3 years. Included in this bio
is a short list of what I did that I kept track of. I sort of stopped paying
much attention to this stuff, to me personally it is sort of vain.
However, I include this as proof and as a base for information for the curious.
Other wise it is wasted space. I guess since I have made over $1.00 that makes
me a professional Poet too...? Well, I let others decide that. I don't write for
everybody, just myself .
